‘This unique cottage in Bovina is a destination itself. We had planned just to utilize as a base for Catskill exploration and house hunting but found we wanted to spend all of our time there. The view of the river, meadows and mountains along with the carefully curated collection of vinyl records and mason jarred spices formulate the recipe for a perfectly sound tracked meal. While famed eateries such as Brushland and Table on Ten are in the vicinity we found ourselves cooking every meal at the house. The main room features an open layout kitchen, full range/oven and wood burning stove to keep warm on crispy nights. What can be better than enjoying a cup of fresh brew (coffee or beer) and listening to Pink Moon or Exile with the fire crackling in the background? I’ll tell you. Enjoying it all with The Boss. No, not Bruce Springsteen, no, no, not my wife … but Jack, the cat. Our recommendation is to opt for taking Jack with the cottage. He sets the tone for a mellow mood that permeates the wood work and entire stay.’

‘This is an enchanting home that one wants to stay in for way longer than the time one has. Cozy and charming; great selection of music for the turntable and films for the enthusiast (movies too, if you’re in the mood for something more lighthearted – but you know what I mean by the distinction!); a dream working space for the amateur cook; lovely views; excellent communication with Julian; and the icing on the cake: Jack the cat, in all his glorious laziness. We didn’t go out much, but the people that we exchanged a few words with in the area were as friendly and welcoming as our host. Excellent choice!’

‘We loved Julian’s house. It was beautifully decorated but homely at the same time. Perfect for switching off after a busy week in NYC. We walked to the general store and Brushland Eating House, but mostly we just pottered around and relaxed at home. My girls played endlessly in the stream at the end of the garden, my son watched back to back films in the ‘cinema’ and I read 2 books. Lovely holiday weekend.’

‘We spent my birthday weekend at Julian’s cottage and had a stellar time. Perfect retreat to recharge from life in the city. The cottage is cozy and full of character, well-stocked kitchen, and porch opening up to a meadow-like garden with a stream. Waking up with the sounds of the bubbling creek echoing throughout the house and having our coffee was everything. The superb vinyl record collection caused major envy, the sound system, fireplace… just a dream! My wife is an interior designer and she couldn’t get enough of the interior, the layout, the carefully curated furniture… we greatly appreciated it. The time we spent at Julian’s cottage was mostly rainy and it just added even more magic to the whole experience. We would love to come back.’

‘My boyfriend and I just spent a perfect getaway week here from NYC. Mesmerizing paintings, classic books, great records, a chef’s kitchen, and my new favorite: Jack the cat. I miss hugging him already! Julian was readily available by text, and kind enough to leave us some local milk and eggs. The house is a welcome blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. We loved heading down to the backyard stream every morning with our coffees, but also loved curling up on the couch at night, watching projected films in the living room. Having a little local country store down the street for essentials was very convenient as well. If it’s in season, and you are looking for a little sunny, obsessive fun, we highly recommend blueberry picking at the family-run, Windy Knob blueberry farm in Delhi — where we ended up with nine pounds of blueberries in 5 gallon jugs. Also, be sure to check out Stonehouse, an eclectic, artisanal home goods store on Main Street in Delhi. We bought beautiful little Moroccan glasses and a plaid wool blanket, shorn, dyed, and woven at a local farm. They are our souvenirs from a wonderful vacation. We recommend Julian’s place in a heartbeat!’

‘Julian set up the place perfectly. The fire was lit, the place warm and cozy, the Christmas tree had its lights on, and a loving kitty nestled into the couch. We couldn’t have felt more welcome or at home. The space itself is as amazing as the description sounds, if not better, with care put into every corner. A perfect blend of modern right next to vintage gorgeousness.’
